How to do Eye Makeup
Step 1: Apply an eye primer
Always begin with an eye primer. It will help hold your eye makeup in place for extended periods. An eye primer creates a clean working area and acts as a barrier between your eye makeup and the natural oils in your skin, which, in turn, helps your beautiful eye makeup to last longer and save you from continually re-applying. There is no particular brush for eye primer; you can begin with your fingers or sponge to apply
Step 2: Conceal
When you have dark under eyes or eyelids, it's usually suggested to hide those as to create a neutral color tone which makes your eyeshadow pop. You want to make sure to not overhide it, tap on the area in dots instead of swooping it like a cream as it may appear thick and could appear cakey if placed too much. You will also want to read how to reduce the puffiness of the under eye.

Step 3: Choose the right brush
Various brushes generate different effects to the eye. A large shadow brush, for example, is best suited for lightly dusting the eyelids with a thin layer of wearable color, a medium brush offers greater coverage, a small brush provides the most color intensity and precision and angular brushes are best for lining and detailing.
Step 4: Applying eyeshadow
The most enjoyable but often confusing step. Finding the perfect eye shadow shade can be a challenge. During the day, you will typically want to stick to some lighter/brighter shades and at night you can never go wrong with a Smokey eye.
Application:
When you first apply the pigment to your eyelid, pat the eyeshadow on instead of brushing it across your lid. This will allow the pigment to adhere to your lid better, and give a solid rather than patchy look.
Instead of applying the eyeshadow in a fast motion by rubbing it across your eye, use short, slow brush strokes (in the same direction) while blending. You should ALWAYS blend in slow motion while applying eyeshadow.
Unless you're opting for a shimmery shade, never apply your eye makeup all the way up to your brows. This is a good way to over dramatize the eyes and make them look way too done up.
Step 5: Highlighting
This isn't necessary, but it can really elevate your eyeshadow skills and it will do wonders for defining your brows! Adding a bit of highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes and brow line with really make a difference to the affect of your eyeshadow
Step 6: Eyeliner
An eyeliner is always a go-to! Eyeliner provides a nice defined shape to your eyes for sure. Eyeliner comes in all colors and all forms, from gel to pencil liners, from kohl black to neon yellows! The best thing about eyeliner is if you don't have one in a specific color you can just make an eyeliner. Simply wet a slanted brush, dip it into any eyeshadow color, and line your eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible, starting from the inner corner to the outer corner, easy as that!
Step 7: Curl your Lashes
An eyelash curler can enhance even the lengthiest, fullest lashes and really open up the eyes. If you want to amp it up, you can heat up the curler under a blow dryer for a few seconds. It will make your lashes appear longer and fuller, and they will curl even better, but just be cautious, you don't want to singe your eyelashes off!
Step 8: Apply Mascara
To apply your mascara, look directly into the mirror, take the wand, and place it at the base of the upper lashes. Then joggle it back and forth to coat the base of your lashes, and then pull the wand to the tip of the lashes, making sure to coat every tip as you pull through, moving separately if you are finding clumps. To help separate the lashes even more, take a clean spoolie and brush the lashes upwards to comb through the clumps. Then after that, you can recoat the lashes with mascara to help with volume.
